A common question we often get is -

Question: Should I leave my trampoline up during the cold winter months?

Answer: The decision of whether you should leave your trampoline standing during the winter depends largely on personal preference and available storage space. If you leave your trampoline up, you'll need to prepare the structure for the cold and wet of the season.

Winter care is short and simple…

Regularly clear off accumulated snow from your trampoline. The most effective (and safest) snow removal tool is a soft bristle brush or broom. To clear the mat, start by standing at the opening and reach into the center of the mat. Slowly pull the snow load toward you and off the trampoline edge. Do not use hard tools like a shovel because it can damage the mat and/or the net. Complete this simple task and rain, shine or snow your Springfree Trampoline will always be ready for jumping.

Disassembly

Many trampolines are designed with durable, rust-proof materials, which means they don't have to be taken down during the winter. However, if you have the storage space, you can disassemble your trampoline and place it in a dry place. Remove the safety netting, springs, jumping mat and soft frame pads. Leave the
poles that hold the netting into place, and the metal frame to which the springs and mat attach, standing in the yard.

Winterization

Winterization keeps your trampoline clean and safe if you opt to leave it up over the winter. Remove frame pads and store them indoors to keep them from getting soaked from rain or snow. The jumping surface acts as a sieve and will allow water through the bottom. However, heavy snows can build up on the mat,
over-stretching the springs. Clear snow off the trampoline with a shovel or broom after each storm. Trampoline covers are not recommended, according to Trampolineslosangeles.com. Instead of protecting the surface, a cover locks in moisture that can cause sagging and mildew.

Wind

Trampolines can be a safety hazard in windy areas if they are not anchored down. Specialized anchor kits that include stakes that attach to the frame can help secure the trampoline to the ground. Another option is to dig trenches in the ground before the initial placement of the trampoline. Place the legs of the structure into the trenches and surround the holes with packed dirt or mulch until the frame is firmly secured in the ground, making sure the trampoline is level.

Safety

Practice trampoline safety at all times. Dry wet surfaces and allow them to dry completely before allowing friends and family members to jump. Limit jumping to one person on the mat at a time to reduce the risk of injury. Have an adult supervise children during use.

Bill Gates tells Ellen he has a trampoline room in his house

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is one of the richest people in the world, and on The Ellen DeGeneres show, he revealed a little bit about what having all that money is like for him.....And then, he opened up to DeGeneres about what it's actually like to be a billionaire. And it involves a trampoline room.

Gates said he doesn't have too many extravagances in his life, but he does have a Porsche and his own plane, admittedly "a huge indulgence." But DeGeneres pressed him, asking if he had an "aquarium with sharks in it." He doesn't have that, but he said he does have a room dedicated to trampolines in his house. "We have a trampoline room in our house, the kids like that," he said. "Indoor trampolines, I recommend it. […] It's a room with a very high ceiling."

The trampoline room has a 20-foot ceiling, and overall the exercise facilities, including locker rooms, a sauna, and a steam room, take up 2,500 square feet. Business Insider reports that it took Gates $63 million and seven years to build the 66,000-square-foot estate.

Of course, Bill and Melinda Gates put the vast majority of their own money into their charitable foundation, helping people around the world. But hey, when you have billions of dollars, why not have a room dedicated to trampolines, too?

Dodgeball bounces back with Van Nuys Trampoline Tournament

VAN NUYS (KABC) --

Early Monday morning, team Doom is practicing at the SkyZone in Van Nuys, gearing up for the big tournament.

"Doom, they are our champions. We actually have their trophy up there," said Jennifer Hernandez, manager of SkyZone in Van Nuys.

Dodgeball is a simple game but it can be serious: Five people per team with the goal of slamming balls at the opposition, knocking them out of the game. All while you try to avoid getting hit yourself.

It's the ultimate elimination game but Justin Payan admits: Cheating can happen.

"You get hit you don't go out," said Payan.

"That happens quite often, actually. People know who they are, but that happens. You get 'em back," said Kol Harrell of Los Angeles.

These guys have been playing for eight years and love dodgeball drama.

"I play dodgeball courts, mud, snow, but on trampolines it's a lot of fun because you're jumping up in the air and you have an enclosed court so it's a lot of fun," said Doom team member Vince Marchbanks.

Studies show the trampoline is a great low-impact workout. It's easy on joints and on those who might be carrying a little extra weight. It stimulates the lymphatic system and burns loads of calories.

"I've played sports growing up and this is by far one of the hardest things I've done," said Payan.

It's a friendly competition, but there can be injuries. "Broken fingers, black eyes, broken noses," said Payan. Marchbanks added: "torn retinas."

The tournament costs $100 per team. This Sunday is the quarterfinals.

They expect 20 teams to bounce it out to head to Chicago and the $50,000 grand prize.

Trampoline surfing is a real thing [VIDEO]

Some guys from the JOOG Squad decided to combine surfing and jumping on a trampoline. This new phenomenon is now coined Trampoline Surfing and they even got Steve-O from Jackass fame to join in on the madness. I guess the Florida waves are too small and they needed some extra excitement. The guys strapped a round backyard trampoline to two paddle boards and off they went. Check out the videos:

Trampoline Charades Game

We are back with more fun activities and games that involve a trampoline. This time it is the classic game of charades played while jumping on a trampoline. The guys at Dude Perfect have put together their version of how the game is played. We recommend using the video as a reference but altering the rules to your desired liking. Now, let’s learn how to jump on a trampoline.

For simplicity sake, let’s assume you lack some basic coordination.
You should work to strengthen your leg muscles and increase coordination by doing some basic balance exercises.

Strength is the ability to jump high on the trampoline.
Coordination is jumping high on the trampoline at the right time

I think this is where jumping gets difficult – you are using your legs to move, so if your usual habit is to clench your legs together or squeeze your butt, then your body has no idea how to close the bottom of the box with just your pelvic floor muscles while you are using your legs for jumping.

She captured us in a pair of daisy duke shorts in the blockbuster movie "Transformers". She even sizzled as a teenage vampire in "Jennifer's body". Finally, Megan bounced on a trampoline as reporter April O'neil in TMNT.

Can trampolines really keep a person from getting the common cold? It sounds a bit of a stretch at first, but the science could actually be there as pointed out by Sherlock Holmes on the popular television drama "Elementary". Sherlock Holmes is the eccentric character played by actor Jonny Lee Miller. Jonny Lee Miller was formerly married to Angelina Jolie and the two actors are still good friends.

In the episode titled "No Appointment" of the 4th season of the show, Dr. Joan Watson (played by Lucy Liu) finds Sherlock bouncing on a mini trampoline and asks the obvious question, "What's with the trampoline?". The following dialog ensues:

Watson: What's with the trampoline?

Sherlock: It really is shocking what they don't teach you in medical school.

Watson: Okay, forget I asked.

Sherlock: The lymphatic system, unlike the cardiovascular system, has no pumping capability; it relies on muscular contraction.
